Graduation
Add a loved one to a graduation photo
The cap and gown photo is for the people who got you there. Add the grandparent or parent who would have been proudest, in the same room, in the same light.

Grandma or Grandpa at graduation
Grandparents often hoped to see this day. The photo right after the ceremony, with the family gathered around the graduate, is the natural place for them. Tap beside the graduate or next to their own child, and choose Standing beside or Arm around.
A parent who would have been so proud
For some graduates, the person missing is a mom or dad. It can help to choose a photo of them from around the time you started school or college, the parent you remember cheering you on. Reunily keeps their face as it is in the photo you choose.
Indoor ceremony photos
Graduation photos are often taken in halls and gyms under overhead lights, sometimes with flash. That mixed light is what makes pasted-in people look wrong. Reunily reads the light in your photo and gives your loved one the same direction, color and softness, along with the same grain and sharpness as the camera that took it.
When the only photo is an old one
Most families have better photos of the graduate than of the grandparent. If all you have is a print:
- Lay it flat near a window, out of direct sun, and photograph it straight on with your phone.
- Fill the frame with the face and avoid reflections from glossy paper.
- Add more than one photo if you have them. Different angles help with likeness.

Graduation photo questions
We only have a small, old photo of her. Will that work?
Often, yes. The example on this page started from a 404 × 520 pixel scan with heavy compression. Reunily notices when a photo is low resolution and renders the person as a clean, sharp photo without changing the face. If you have more than one photo, add them all; up to four helps with likeness.
Can I add them to the photo on stage?
Stage and diploma shots are usually taken from far away with many people around, so there is little room and faces are small. The photos after the ceremony, with family close to the camera, work much better.
Will they wear what they wore in their photo?
Usually, or something close that fits the occasion. In this example, Grandma kept her navy jacket and brooch. In our wedding example, a man photographed in a sweater appears in a dark suit. What Reunily holds on to most is the face, and details like glasses or jewelry.
Can I make a video?
No, Reunily makes still photos only.
